Serres - 25 March 2009

25th of March is the Independence Day in Greece, an anniversary of the declaration of the start of Greek War of Independence from the Ottoman Empire, in 1821. There is a big parade in every town. In Serres it begins in fron of statue of Emmanuel Pappas, the leader of the revolution in Macedonia. All the city is participating in the parade, groups from northern Greece in traditional costumes, schools in uniforms, Greek army, city bands.
