Knossos

The famous Minoan Palace, the seat of the legendary King Minos and the main centre of power in Crete. The first Minoan palace, where the dynasty of Minos ruled was built on the ruins of neolithic settlement in 1900 BC. It was destroyed in 1700 BC and a new palace built in its place, when Minoan civilisation was at its peak and Knossos was the most important city by 1450 BC. The Great Palace with 1400 rooms, South Propylaeum, Magazines, Central court, Throne room, Grand staircase, King's and Queen's apartments, Theatre, Royal road are just few parts of the legendary Palace.
